Chapter: The One Where Sakuragi is Taken Off the Court

After making a dunk, the pain in Sakuragi’s back becomes too much for him to hide, and Akagi immediately leads him off the court. As he does, Sakuragi remembers bitterly what Rukawa had asked him to do (“Follow me...”) and promises himself that he’d beat Rukawa one day. (One track mind, eh?) Meanwhile, Rukawa watches Sakuragi leave the court with a strange almost-concerned look on his face.

Chapter: The One Where Sakuragi is Determined to Play

Sakuragi is stubbornly refusing to sit down quietly on the bench, despite injuring his back. Anzai-sensei tries to talk sense to him but fails, to the amazement and slight fear of his friends and teammates. Takamiya, Ohkosu and Noma know that there’s no one who can influence him when he’s in this state, not even *gasp* Haruko.

But then Yohei (best friend and all that) states, pretty confidently, that there is someone who can influence Sakuragi.

And Rukawa, with ever-perfect timing, decides to make an entrance at that exact moment. Sakuragi looks at Rukawa’s retreating back, and just then Rukawa states his opinion clear. “What are you doing standing there? If you want to return to court, then return to court! Do’aho.” Well, whaddya know, Rukawa wants Sakuragi to play. And that’s reason enough for Sakuragi to come stomping onto court, demanding for a player change.
